2011 - Puerto Rico trip number 3. You see the pattern emerging?
This year's trip included Sheehan, Patrick, Noel, Warren, Ethan, and Gwenn & Ray...who live in PR. I did things a little differently this time. I flew down to Florida a day before we were all to leave for PR. Stayed with Warren and we spent the day at Harry's and running around. Then me and the rest of the Florida bunch all flew out together the next morning for PR. A lot more interesting and definitely more fun. The other advantage is that we can get into PR very early and get the hell out of that San Juan traffic!
We visited Ian Crown, Felipe, Juan Miranda, Sherry Ballester, Bryan Brunner, and TARS...Tropical Agriculture Research Station.
First stop after we landed was to head south approximately 50 kilometers from San Juan. Tucked away in the Carite Forest is what is called the Pork Highway. This is a famous group of restaurants where whole pigs are roasted during the day. Andrew Zimmern featured this location in his show while in PR.
First tour of the week is TARS. We met up with Sadhu for a personal tour around the grounds. Educational to say the least. Sadhu knows the park like the back of his hand and is just filled with knowledge and other interesting facts.
Our next farm tour was Ian's. Always something new for us here and this year was no exception.
Sherry Ballester's farm. She always has a big welcome for us...the perfect hostess. Now it just wouldn't be a PR trip without visiting.
Last tour of the week was at Juan Miranda's farm...who is now on our must-see list.
